Source Wisdom Within

  • Neighbourhuud is our centre for Dao, Tantra & Birthwork. We have a team of facilitators sharing their wisdom through courses, events, and facilitator training.

We focus on the practices and philosophies we’ve found most beneficial to support health and wellbeing, spiritual development, and personal fulfilment in modern life.

We’re called “Neighbourhuud” because our mission is to support our local community in Brighton and Hove with transformative offerings for everyday life.

We source our wisdom from the three systems of Dao, Tantra & Birthwork which view the body as a divine doorway to spiritual development. This is in contrast to most other spiritual systems which council renunciation of the physical world.

  • Daoism is an essential pillar at Neighbourhuud due to its long-held, widely-revered lineages.

It holds extensive knowledge of the human body which it views as a microcosm born from the Dao. Hence, the body is inseparable from divinity.

The yin and yang symbol shows the interdependence of the dark and light forces. There is no activity without rest, we need the sun and the moon, and both feminine and masculine principles are undeniably important.

So, Daoism is a system which can teach practitioners from all backgrounds to come into harmony with the natural (wu) way of life.

  • Tantra is a vital pillar at Neighbourhuud because it provides practical guidance for citydwellers like us!

It is a system for spiritual expansion and liberation by bringing loving awareness to all aspects of our lives… the human body, our relationships, emotions, and desires.

It’s often mistaken as hedonism because you get to consciously explore your desires until your soul has fully experienced what it needs for your spiritual development.

This can actually make it one of the most challenging spiritual paths.

Advanced practitioners choose to allow the intense emotions which come with being a householder (as opposed to a monk or nun) to flow through them without attaching to them. It’s through this feeling that practitioners are able to awaken and dance with the potential power (kundalini shakti) in their bodies.

  • Birthwork is our grounding pillar at Neighbourhuud. In England, it is one of the only spaces where witches were allowed to practice and share their wisdom.

It is the feminine spiritual lineage of our home. We have always revered the intuition which comes through women who listen to their wombs. Ultimately, it’s one of the best ways to keep lifeforce flowing through the community.

With this knowledge passed down the village can gain deeper understanding of childcare, birthkeeping, and parent support!
